HOW LONG DOES A ROOF USUALLY LAST?

The lifespan of your roof ultimately depends on what the roof is made out of, how well it was installed, how often you inspect, maintain, and repair your roof. These are the average lifespans of some of the most common types of roofs to help you determine if it might be time to replace yours soon.

    • Tile roof: 50 years.
    • Cedar shake roof: 25 years.
    • Metal roof: 40 years.
    • Slate roof: 70 years.

Remember that your roof could last longer or shorter; it all depends on how you treat it. You can increase your chances of hitting the higher end of the lifespan by inspecting your roof regularly and doing the right amount of maintenance on it.

Specific symptoms to watch out for include:

    • Cracked, warped or missing tiles and shingles.
